Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Funeral Services Manager to lead our team at Service Corporation International. As a Funeral Services Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our funeral homes, ensuring that we provide exceptional service to our clients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Management
    • Develop and implement annual business plans and budgets to ensure financial goals are met.
    • Monitor and analyze financial performance, making adjustments as needed to optimize profitability.
    • Approve expenditures and invoices, ensuring that all financial transactions are accurate and compliant with company policies.
  • Operations
    • Manage the day-to-day activities of our funeral homes, ensuring that all services are delivered on time and to the highest standard.
    • Develop and implement processes to improve efficiency and productivity, reducing costs and improving customer satisfaction.
    • Collaborate with our team to identify and resolve operational issues, ensuring that our funeral homes are always running smoothly.
  • People Development
    • Lead and develop a high-performing team of funeral directors, ensuring that they have the skills and knowledge needed to deliver exceptional service to our clients.
    • Develop and implement training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of our team members.
    • Collaborate with our HR team to ensure that all employment practices are compliant with company policies and relevant laws and regulations.
Requirements
  • Education
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • At least 12 hours of college coursework in finance and accounting strongly preferred.
    • At least 12 hours of college coursework in marketing or business strongly preferred.
  • Certification/License
    • Requires applicable state funeral director licensure.
    • Technical schooling diploma in funeral services/mortuary science preferred.
    • Bachelor's degree in mortuary science where required by state law.
  • Experience
    • At least 9 years of industry experience in a relevant discipline with progressively increased responsibilities.
    • At least 4 years of experience managing people and effectively managing budgets and expense control required.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Knowledge of industry competitive pricing, demographic patterns, and market competition strongly desired.
    • Knowledgeable in financial and business acumen.
    • Professional interpersonal skills, as well as cultural sensitivity and tactfulness to interact with a variety of cultures and language barriers.
    • Proficient in MS Office suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Work Environment

As a Funeral Services Manager, you will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, interacting with clients, families, and team members on a daily basis. You will be required to work indoors and outdoors during all seasons and weather conditions, and may be exposed to various chemicals and fluids. You will also be required to travel locally and/or to multiple locations, and may be required to work beyond standard hours as needed.
