We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Child Life Specialist to join our team at Hackensack Meridian Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to children and adolescents with chronic, acute disorders, and life-threatening conditions.
Key Responsibilities- Assess the psychosocial and developmental needs of children and adolescents, and develop personalized plans to address their unique needs.
- Counsel family members on issues related to their child's development and ability to cope with hospitalization, illness, and anticipated death.
- Provide ongoing emotional support to children and adolescents during identified stress points, promoting a safe and nurturing environment.
- Identify the needs of the patient population served and modify and deliver care that is specific to those needs, communicating effectively with patients, parents, and caregivers.
- Adhere to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies and HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
- Master's degree in creative arts therapy, child psychology, special education, occupational therapy, social work, or equivalent experience.
- Previous training with a pediatric population and minimum 2 years of experience utilizing Creative Arts Therapy/Childlife services with children/adolescents in a medical setting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.
- Child Life Certification required for all new employees as of December 2013, or within the first 2 years of hire for all new employees as of December 2004.
