Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Chief Operating Officer to join our team at the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for driving organizational growth, developing and implementing strategic plans, and overseeing operations to ensure the successful execution of our mission.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive annual budgets and longer-term financial plans in collaboration with the President, Executive Director, and Board Committee.
  • Operational Leadership: Oversee the operations and employee productivity, fostering a highly inclusive culture that enables team members to thrive and achieve organizational goals.
  • Financial Management: Set financial strategy, including setting strategic targets, and drive organizational growth.
  • Team Management: Lead a team of senior leaders, including the Director of Finance, Director of People and Culture, Director of Operations & Administration, Manager of Talent, HR Manager, and HR Assistant; IT Manager; and Operations & Administration Coordinator.
  • Risk Management: Proactively mitigate business, governance, and operational risks by interpreting data and metrics, and establishing policies that promote the company culture and vision.
Requirements
  • Education: An undergraduate degree from an accredited school is required; a master's degree is preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 15 years of overall professional experience, including a minimum of 10 years of supervisory experience, with a strong background in executive-level leadership.
  • Skills: Financial acumen, political savvy, exceptional communication and presentation skills, and experience with operational and financial board reporting.
  • Background: A minimum of 10 years of operational leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a non-profit 501c3 donor-funded organization.
