REGISTERED NURSE
NURSE RESIDENCY UNIT (NRU)
The Nurse Residency Unit (NRU) is an integral part of the Med/Surg Nurse Residency Program at Piedmont Athens Regional. This specialized unit consists of 20 beds and plays a crucial role in onboarding three cohorts of new graduate nurses annually.
New graduate nurses begin their orientation on this dedicated unit, working alongside experienced preceptors. This structure ensures that new nurses acquire a robust clinical foundation before transitioning to their designated home units.
The NRU fosters a secure learning environment aimed at cultivating competent and highly-skilled nursing professionals. Our committed preceptors, leadership team, and Nurse Residency Coordinator offer exceptional support to nurse residents throughout their orientation and transition into practice.
In the advanced Main Tower, NRU nurses deliver high-quality nursing care to acute care patients by employing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. They operate within the framework of the organization's policies and procedures, demonstrating professional growth and accountability.
NRU nurses are tasked with upholding standards of practice and coordinating patient care activities among all assigned staff to ensure the delivery of quality nursing care.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The staff nurse provides comprehensive nursing care to patients across all age groups, utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care. They function within the organization's policies and procedures, showcasing professional growth and accountability.
Staff nurses are responsible for maintaining practice standards and coordinating patient care activities among all assigned staff to ensure quality nursing care.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
New Graduates of a nursing program are eligible
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Current License in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLC Multistate License
BLS certification required
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
For PRN positions:
One year of nursing experience in a hospital setting is preferred. A Bachelor's degree is preferred. Advanced certification in the field of specialty, if applicable.
