Petco Veterinary Assistant Job Description

At Petco, we're dedicated to improving the lives of pets, pet parents, and our planet. As a Veterinary Assistant, you'll play a critical role in delivering exceptional medical care to our patients and providing phenomenal customer service to their owners.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Greet clients and patients, escort them to exam rooms, and obtain vital signs and medical records.
  • Assist veterinarians with appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia under supervision.
  • Perform patient restraint, collect laboratory samples, handle medications, and maintain electronic medical records.
  • Schedule appointments, provide client education, and relay test results to doctors and clients.
  • Help prepare patients for surgical and dental procedures, and assist with anesthesia and recovery.

Requirements:
  • Previous experience in veterinary practice or animal care.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Compassion, sympathy, and a professional attitude in emotional situations.
  • Telephone and computer skills.
  • Team player with a willingness to learn and adapt.
