Job Description

At Stamford Health, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Maternity Unit as a full-time Nurse Coordinator. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and leading our team with expertise.

About the Role

The Nurse Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care, supervising non-RN personnel, and acting as a resource for ancillary staff on assigned unit. In addition, the successful candidate will supervise unit activities when assigned to charge or clinical coordinator role, act as a preceptor to new staff and/or students, and adhere to all hospital policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in maternal child health and possess excellent communication and leadership skills. Responsibilities include ensuring the infant security program is intact, promoting an optimal breastfeeding experience, recognizing symptoms of maternal hemorrhage, and implementing interventions to stabilize patients. Additionally, the Nurse Coordinator will demonstrate knowledge of surgical GYN procedures, assess patients accurately based on age and physical requirements, maintain competencies to care for patients undergoing mastectomy and other breast procedures, and perform newborn assessment, metabolic screening, and hearing screening.

Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a minimum of 1 year professional nursing experience required.
