The ideal candidate will function as a Senior Application Operations Engineer within the DevOps Applications team. This role is pivotal in managing applications hosted on AWS as part of a modernization strategy. The Senior Application Operations Engineer will oversee daily operational responsibilities, including application deployments, issue resolution, and service ticket management. Additionally, this position requires maintaining comprehensive documentation covering all facets of the application, including technical architecture and operational processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the deployment of applications in both production and staging environments.
  • Address service tickets based on urgency and impact.
  • Diagnose and resolve application-related issues.
  • Implement enhancements to bolster application security as necessary.
  • Utilize observability and triaging tools provided by cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.).
  • Engage with CI/CD and project management tools such as Azure DevOps.
  • Conduct analysis, define problems, gather requirements, and develop solutions while creating fixes and enhancements.
  • Utilize source code quality and security tools for both static and dynamic assessments.
  • Develop and maintain pertinent project documentation.
  • Participate in technical reviews including configuration and code assessments.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in supporting and developing Java applications.
  • Familiarity with Java build tools such as Maven and Gradle.
  • Extensive experience with Spring MVC, Spring Boot, JPA, Hibernate, and JSP.
  • Strong understanding of relational database technologies, particularly Oracle and/or PostgreSQL.
  • Experience managing AWS services like Fargate/ECS, Lambda, EC2, EFS, ELB, etc.
  • Proficient in monitoring AWS services and custom applications using CloudWatch and similar tools.
  • Expertise in Azure DevOps, including GIT and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-driven and a proven collaborator.
  • Ability to remain composed under pressure, especially during production outages.
  • Strong scripting abilities in languages such as Python, PowerShell, and Bash (Linux).
  • Experience integrating with external SaaS solutions.
  • Expertise in developing user interfaces with ReactJS.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker.
  • Hands-on experience with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
