Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Care Duties:
- Welcoming patients from the waiting area and conducting intake procedures (vital signs, chief complaint, medical history, etc.) while documenting information accurately.
- Conducting screenings in accordance with provider protocols.
- Responding to inquiries from patients and parents, providing essential information.
- Effectively communicating instructions to patients and their families.
Administrative and Organizational Duties:
- Managing front desk operations, including answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, and greeting patients.
- Completing registration forms and providing instructions during patient check-in.
- Handling medical records, referrals, and verifying insurance details.
- Utilizing appropriate medical terminology in communications and adhering to legal and ethical standards.
- Respecting and promoting patient rights and addressing any concerns with supervisors.
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Measuring and documenting vital signs.
- Recording essential intake information (chief complaint, history, etc.).
- Preparing patients for examinations and assisting physicians during procedures.
- Administering medications as authorized by the physician and performing basic lab tests.
- Changing dressings and administering injections while ensuring accurate documentation.
Environmental Responsibilities:
- Maintaining cleanliness of exam and procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment to uphold infection control standards.
- Organizing and restocking supplies in examination areas.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduation from an accredited medical vocational institution or completion of a community college medical assisting program is strongly preferred.
- Current certification as a Clinical Medical Assistant.
- A minimum of one year of experience as a Clinical Medical Assistant in an outpatient setting, with pediatric experience preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient in computer skills with the ability to efficiently input and retrieve patient data.
- Exceptional patient and customer service skills through effective communication.
- Commitment to upholding HIPAA regulations.
- Respect for the cultural and religious practices of patients.
- Experience in administering vaccinations.
