Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Pediatric Psychology Assistant to join our team at Ochsner Health. As a key member of our pediatric psychology team, you will provide exceptional support to our licensed healthcare providers, ensuring the highest level of patient care and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to assigned patients under the supervision of a licensed healthcare provider.
  • Assist in the implementation of the delivery of health care services, including appointment scheduling and medical assistant functions.
  • Prepare patients for exams, explaining procedures and answering questions in a clear and professional manner.
  • Schedule and reschedule patient appointments, ensuring seamless communication with patients and healthcare providers.
  • Adapt behavior to meet the specific needs of each patient population, demonstrating respect for privacy and individualized care.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a Medical Assistant training program preferred.
  • Related experience in a clinic or medical office setting preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required.
  • Certification in Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM), Certification in Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA), or Certification as a Medical Assistant (or other medical specialty-based certification) preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent computer skills and data entry abilities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other departments and exercise sound judgment in handling difficult situations.
Physical and Environmental Demands

This role requires frequent exertion of 10-20 pounds of force to move objects, occasional exertion of up to 100 pounds of force, and exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissue. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
