Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at UDR Inc., a leading owner and manager of residential apartment communities. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the overall appearance and cleanliness of our communities, responding to resident requests for maintenance and service, and performing electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and appliance repair tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance and Repair
    • Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure the overall appearance and cleanliness of the community, including grounds, amenities, building exteriors/interiors, and common areas.
    • Respond to resident requests for maintenance and service, taking appropriate action to repair and/or restore service within established quality and time standards.
    • Perform electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and appliance repair tasks to ensure resident satisfaction and community upkeep.
  • Tool Maintenance and Inventory
    • Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in proper working order and requesting replacements as necessary.
    • Assist in stocking inventory and managing vendor relationships to maintain appropriate levels of supplies and equipment within budget guidelines.
  • Customer Service and Communication
    • Foster positive relationships with residents, confirming their expectations are being fulfilled and identifying opportunities to improve resident happiness and service.
    • Communicate effectively with residents, management, and vendors to ensure seamless service delivery and resident satisfaction.
  • Training and Development
    • Assist in training and mentoring new Maintenance Technicians and/or Apprentices to ensure a smooth transition and knowledge transfer.
Requirements
  • Experience and Skills
    • Minimum 1-2 years of maintenance experience in the multi-family, hospitality, or similar industry.
    • Competency in residential plumbing, electrical, appliance repair, painting, and drywall.
    • Knowledge of and experience in HVAC and carpentry a plus.
  • Education and Certifications
    • High school or equivalent preferred.
    • EPA Type II or Universal certification preferred.
  • Other Requirements
    • Valid driver's license and rotating on-call responsibility required.
