About the Role

Hilltop Securities Inc. is seeking a highly skilled HFA Program Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our loan operations department, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate review of loan applications and supporting documentation for our client TBA and MRB/MCC programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Compliance Review: Perform thorough reviews of loan applications and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with stated program timelines and requirements.
  • Income Calculations: Conduct income calculations using paystubs, tax returns, and other supporting documents to ensure loan program compliance.
  • Client Support: Provide direct assistance to lenders and issuers with questions related to program documents, requirements, and processes.
  • Program Monitoring: Monitor program pipelines by routine follow-up with lenders and communicate any missing or incomplete documents to ensure timely completion.
  • Loan Processing: Perform program commitment expiration extensions, loan changes, and cancellation requests as directed by the lender.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and document recommendations for implementation.
  • Team Support: Cross-train in other roles to provide backup support to other team members as needed, including accounting functions and phone coverage.
  • Customer Service: Provide prompt customer service by monitoring personal and individual program email inboxes and responding via email or phone.
  • Lender Onboarding: Follow the lender onboarding process for access to Lender Online and maintain accurate lists of participating lenders.
Requirements
  • Technical Skills: Ability to learn the Emphasys Loan Tracking system flow and functionalities, as well as the online reservation system, Lender Online.
  • Industry Knowledge: Possess a moderate working knowledge of agency and servicer guidelines as they relate to the program, and the ability to research when clarity is needed.
  • Mortgage Industry Experience: General knowledge of mortgage industry rules and regulations is a must, with experience in processing mortgage loans highly preferred.
  • State and Local Housing Agency Programs: Technical knowledge and experience with state and local housing agency programs is preferred.
  • Soft Skills: Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, provide exceptional customer service, and establish a friendly rapport with participating lenders, borrowers, and clients.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Independence and Prioritization: Ability to work well independently, prioritize tasks, and maintain a high level of integrity and dependability.
  • Flexibility: Must be flexible for overtime if required to meet deadlines and assist with other projects as needed.
