A Day in the Life of a Senior Staff Accountant

You will be responsible for performing general ledger account reconciliations in our enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. You will maintain and balance the general ledger with attention to detail, prepare monthly balance sheet account schedules, and perform account trend analysis. You will ensure the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, and entering transactions and resolving any variances. You will also assist with month-end and year-end closing and schedules, as well as support financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform general ledger account reconciliations in the ERP system
  • Maintain and balance the general ledger with attention to detail
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet account schedules
  • Perform account trend analysis
  • Ensure the integrity of accounting information
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing and schedules
  • Support financial reporting
Requirements
  • A degree in accounting or accounting knowledge and experience in lieu of a degree
  • 7+ years of accounting experience, including balance sheet account reconciliation
  • Experience working with government contracts (state, local, federal) in a job cost environment
  • Skill in identifying, analyzing, and resolving account variances
  • Proficiency with month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Experience with financial reporting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and federal acquisition regulations
  • Strong attention to detail
