Key Responsibilities
  • Directs Yard Operations: Oversees the loading, unloading, and movement of materials on the premises, utilizing material handling equipment and machinery, and instructs yard workers in receiving and storage procedures.
  • Ensures Employee Training and Certification: Provides proper training and certification to employees to operate equipment and machinery used in the yard, and ensures that equipment is serviced on schedule and maintained effectively.
  • Inspects Loading Operations: Inspects loading operations for outgoing delivery to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, load limits, and safety regulations, and prepares and reconciles bills of lading and packing slips.
  • Provides On-the-Job Training: Provides on-the-job training to outside or new yard employees, including product knowledge of items stored in the yard and warehouse, housekeeping, and safety procedures.
  • Ensures Safety and Housekeeping: Ensures that outside areas are kept neat and clean, and scraps and yard debris are appropriately recycled or disposed, and reports safety hazards and handles remedial action.
  • Assists Customers: Assists customers in loading and load building, provides delivery status information, inventory availability, and answers related questions.
  • Leads and Directs Employees: Leads and directs employees, including assigning, monitoring, and reviewing work progress and accuracy, providing guidance, addressing escalated issues, and training less experienced team members.
Requirements

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Yard Operations Manager who possesses a high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and at least five (5) years of yard operations experience, or equivalent education and experience.
