Job Summary

The Arc Eastern Connecticut is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Professional to join our team. As a Support Professional, you will play a vital role in facilitating the independence and well-being of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and Facilitation: Deliver training, support, and assistance to participants in areas such as personal care, recreation, daily living skills, social skills, health needs, and behavior management.
  • Individualized Support Plans: Participate in the design, implementation, and monitoring of participants' individualized support plans, utilizing your observations and opinions to tailor achievable goals.
  • Medication Administration: Accurately administer prescribed medications to participants as ordered by physicians.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Complete required documentation, including program data, incident reports, daily logs, progress notes, and health records.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure participants' health and safety, including prevention of abuse, CPR, Standard First Aid, Heimlich procedure, and evacuation in case of a fire.
  • Transportation and Meal Preparation: Provide transportation to recreational and community activities and prepare participants' meals following published menus.
  • Mentorship and Life Skills Coaching: Mentor and assist individuals in all areas of life skills, including recreation, independence, communication, and health.
Requirements
  • Experience and Qualifications: Prior experience working with individuals with developmental and physical disabilities is preferred. Must have the ability to mentor and assist individuals in all areas of life skills.
  • Education and Certifications: High School Diploma or GED required. Valid driver's license required.
  • Communication and Computer Skills: Basic computer aptitude and ability to speak/write in English.
