Job Summary

This role is responsible for providing high-quality respiratory care to patients in the neonatal, pediatric, and adult populations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in respiratory therapy and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic clinical procedures as defined in the Respiratory Care Services scope of clinical practice.
  • Work performed in accordance with physician orders.
  • Assist with nursing, house staff, or other medical staff orientation as requested.
  • Assist with student and department clinical skills labs/competency renewals as a super user.
  • Assist with the clinical implementation of new clinical protocols, equipment, and/or procedures.
  • Assume leadership role in assigned area by performing team lead duties in all service areas.
  • Function in the role of relief shift charge as needed.
  • Primary clinical preceptor for orientation of Level I, II, and III staff, temporary staff, and other professionals as required.
  • Proficient in delivery of Nitric Oxide, Nitrogen, Heliox, and other specialty gases, acting as a resource.
  • Proficient in assisting physicians with bronchoscopes.
  • Proficient in the initiation and maintenance of pulmonary vasodilators and acts as a resource.
Requirements
  • Completion of a CoARC-approved respiratory care program.
  • Four (4) years of experience as an RCP in a Neo-Peds Critical Care facility, including completed time in the Respiratory Care Residency Program.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
  • NRP certification.
  • PALS certification.
  • RCP license from the State of California.
  • RRT certification.
  • CRESPT certification (for employees hired prior to Sept 1st, 2019 with 8 years of clinical experience).
  • ACLS certification.
  • NPS certification within 6 months of hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to adjust communications to fit the needs and level of understanding of the receiver.
  • Ability to conduct analysis and formulate conclusions utilizing critical thinking.
  • Knowledge of computer systems and software used in the functional area.
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
  • Knowledge of new technologies in the specific field and maintain and stay abreast of updates and changes.
  • Knowledge of the indications, contraindications, and hazards of continuous long-term or short-term mechanical ventilation, various respiratory therapy techniques, and anatomy, physiology, and pathology related to the respiratory system.

Pay Range

Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role. Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.

Minimum to Midpoint Range (1.0 FTE): $137,238.40 to $155,625.60
