About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Design Engineer - Fluid Systems to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for the design, analysis, development, and qualification of propellant systems on our reusable launch vehicle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop fluid systems for our launch vehicle, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate fluid systems with other vehicle components.
  • Perform finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to optimize system performance.
  • Develop and maintain detailed mechanical designs, including 3D CAD models and engineering drawings.
  • Work with vendors to select and procure components, and ensure compliance with engineering specifications.
  • Participate in design reviews and testing to ensure system performance meets requirements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of experience in fluid systems design and development.
  • Proven experience with 3D CAD tools, such as Creo.
  • Strong understanding of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer.
  • Experience with FEA and CFD tools, such as ANSYS.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or equivalent.
  • Experience with internally pressurized gimbal type expansion joints and flex hoses.
  • Experience designing systems with RP-1, Oxygen, Peroxide, and Nitrogen in liquid and/or gaseous states.
  • Strong understanding of aerospace materials and treatments.
  • Experience with thermo-fluid solver applications, such as Thermal Desktop and AFT.
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $111,690-$156,366, depending on location. Our benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability, 401(k) with a company match of up to 5%, and an Education Support Program.
