  • Assess comprehensive commercial refrigeration frameworks, focusing on supermarket systems, particularly parallel compression setups, to determine their condition, capacity, and efficiency in light of proposed modifications.
  • Conduct thorough surveys of existing systems, gathering all relevant architectural data, model specifications, and overall condition.
  • Execute refrigeration load assessments.
  • Organize loads on suitable compressor suction groupings.
  • Calculate the capacity of compressors and condensers, selecting new equipment as necessary.
  • Determine the sizing of all associated piping, pressure-regulating valves, and related components.
  • Demonstrate prior design experience across various system types, including condensing units, distributed systems, cascade systems, and secondary pumped systems.
  • Possess knowledge and experience with supermarket energy management systems (EMS).
  • Interpret and analyze complex mechanical, electrical, and architectural schematics.
  • Exhibit a willingness to learn about innovative system types, such as CO2 Transcritical systems.
  • Create refrigeration and EMS designs that adhere to client specifications and comply with all relevant local and state regulations.

Leadership Duties:

  • Delegate tasks to team members, including engineering support staff and drafting technicians, to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Provide mentorship and training to fellow mechanical and refrigeration designers as required.
  • Review, validate, and take responsibility for design outputs produced by team members when necessary.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 2-5 years of experience in refrigeration design is essential, along with an EIT pursuing PE licensure.

Alternatively, an associate degree with at least 5-8 years of relevant refrigeration design experience demonstrating applicability to the outlined responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Thorough understanding of discipline-specific codes and other relevant building regulations.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strong leadership skills to educate clients and team members effectively.
  • Collaborate with the project team to address scheduling, budgeting, phasing, site challenges, and design review matters.
  • Evaluate preliminary and final designs alongside other disciplines for functionality, clearances, and coordination.
  • Engage in client interactions.
  • Conduct quality assurance for projects in collaboration with the technical manager or project engineer.
  • Uphold high standards of professional integrity while prioritizing the interests of the company and clients.
  • Demonstrate the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Work Environment:
