Job Summary

Discovery Behavioral Health is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Behavioral Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care and support to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct supervision and support to clients, ensuring their health, welfare, and safety at all times.
  • Monitor and track client activities, documenting all observations and actions in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Conduct regular facility and grounds checks to identify and mitigate any security or safety hazards.
  • Facilitate clients' daily needs, including meal preparation, medication administration, and personal care.
  • Conduct person and property searches of clients as required, ensuring their belongings are secure and accounted for.
  • Perform urine drug screening testing of clients as required, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to strict protocols.
  • Provide transportation services, including patient transportation and supervision, errands, and shopping, as needed.
  • Observe and monitor clients' behavior and interactions, documenting any concerns or issues in the communication log.
  • Maintain awareness of client schedules and personal time, ensuring seamless transitions and minimizing disruptions.
  • Complete medication training within 30 days of employment and maintain current certification.
  • Obtain First Aid, AED, and CPR certification within 30 days of employment and maintain current certification.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings, in-service trainings, and educational workshops to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Perform various administrative tasks, including assembly, breakdown, and quality assurance of client charts, light filing, and answering telephones, as directed by the supervisor.
Requirements
  • High School or GED Diploma preferred.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare or social services setting, preferably in a behavioral health or addiction treatment environment.
  • Valid Class C Driver's License and liability insurance.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including overnight shifts and weekends.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, staff, and external partners.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to strict protocols, particularly in regards to client confidentiality and medication administration.
  • Basic knowledge of drug and alcohol dependency, mental health, family systems, and recovery resources in the community.
  • Ability to recognize personal recovery issues that impact job performance and interactions with clients.
  • Ability to demonstrate respect for cultural lifestyle diversities of clients and staff.
