Role Summary:
In this role, you will manage accounting, analysis, and reporting related to capital projects and fixed assets for NRG Bluewater Wind and its subsidiaries. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Executing fixed asset accounting tasks to ensure an accurate and timely month-end close for NRG Bluewater Wind.
  • Calculating monthly depreciation, capitalizing Construction in Progress (CIP) projects, and managing asset retirements.
  • Preparing and posting necessary journal entries in the accounting system.
  • Reconciling fixed asset accounts with the general ledger on a monthly basis.
  • Accounting for Asset Retirement Obligations in accordance with ASC 410.
  • Reviewing projects to ensure proper classification between capital and expense.
  • Supporting the Corporate Tax team with annual property tax submissions.
  • Collaborating with generation operations and accounting teams to facilitate CIP reviews and month-end closing activities.
  • Assisting with requests from external and internal auditors.
  • Reporting monthly variances in capital expenditures to the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and Operations teams.
  • Preparing depreciation forecasts for NRG and its subsidiaries.
  • Creating monthly/quarterly fixed asset schedules in compliance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Providing support on technical accounting matters.
  • Assisting with special projects as needed.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Work Environment:
This position operates in an open office setting with a hybrid work schedule of 3-4 days in the office and 1-2 days working remotely. Some overtime may be required during close cycles and for special projects.

Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree in accounting and have three to five years of experience in general accounting and finance. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on process improvement.
  • Effective communication abilities with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • The capability to work independently within a collaborative team culture.
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Flexibility to work both remotely and in an office setting.

Preferred Skills:
Experience with SAP, HFM, and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, is preferred.

Physical Requirements:
This role may occasionally require lifting as necessary to fulfill job responsibilities.
