Overview
Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Capital Projects within the Facilities Organization, the Program Manager will be instrumental in leading the Project Managers and teams responsible for executing the Capital Plan. This role requires a commitment to core values that foster collaboration with senior leaders, team members, and campus partners, ensuring support for the Capital Plan while building and maintaining strong working relationships with various university offices.
The Office for Capital Projects is a division within Facilities that formulates strategic and integrated approaches to developing academic, administrative, and campus life facilities. This is crucial as the University undertakes a comprehensive program of significant construction and renovation projects.
We encourage candidates with extensive experience in lab renovations and advanced science project management to apply.
Key Responsibilities
Office Administration
- Develop a vision and action plan for administrative services within the Office of Capital Projects, establishing a service model to support various projects and initiatives.
- Utilize internal and external resources to assess opportunities for service refinement, secure necessary resources, and implement administrative initiatives.
Project Administration
- Provide input to project teams regarding governance, resources, priorities, risks, and communications.
- Act as a liaison with executive sponsors, users, and university administration.
- Oversee project governance, authorization, and approval processes.
- Manage campus partnerships and specialized expertise areas, ensuring accountability for scope, budgets, and service delivery to project teams.
- Offer technical expertise and guidance to the Capital Projects team to support their initiatives.
- Participate in the selection process for consultants, preconstruction, and contractors as necessary.
- Oversee the lifecycle of internal projects, ensuring ongoing monitoring and compliance with documentation standards.
People Management
- Provide executive leadership in financial and human resources related to project services, fostering partnerships with Facilities Finance, Information Services, and other relevant offices.
- Supervise, lead, and train the Office of Capital Projects services team.
- Mentor staff to enhance their professional development.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as engineering or architecture, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Proven experience in managing capital design and construction projects.
- Familiarity with effectively supporting large-scale critical projects in a university context.
- Demonstrated success in leadership roles, with strong communication skills to engage and motivate staff.
- Considerable experience in decision-making processes and managing diverse teams with varying needs.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to build effective customer relationships within a team-oriented project management framework.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, with a strategic and data-driven approach to project management.
- Capability to manage multiple complex projects with varying scopes and stages of completion.

Preferred Qualifications:
