Job Summary

Under the direction of the Director, Medical Staff Affairs for Corewell Health, this role serves as a resource to the Medical Staff Office staff and collaborates with the Chief Medical Officer to ensure effective communication and coordination of medical staff activities. The Medical Staff Coordinator will also serve as a liaison between the Medical Staff and Hospital Administration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support and necessary resources to the Attending Staff and select Medical Staff Committees and Departments to enable them to fulfill their duties and obligations as outlined in the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and Regulations.
  • Support physicians and Medical Staff committees and department meetings to ensure compliance with Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and Regulations.
  • Function as a resource for information regarding medical staff organization, bylaws, rules and regulations, state and federal regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with all accrediting and regulatory standards applicable to Medical Staff functions.
  • Participate in planning and coordinating on-going Joint Commission/CMS readiness activities; interact with surveyors to demonstrate compliance with standards.
  • Coordinate completion of reports for MPRO, Blue Cross, and other healthcare entities to comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Assist with the credentialing/re-credentialing process as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with Medical Staff leadership and act as a liaison with hospital Department Chairs, Credentials and Medical Executive Committee members, medical staff members, applicants, allied health professionals, and hospital employees to facilitate positive physician-administrative relationships.
  • Maintain accurate and current demographic data for practitioners in the physician database and communicate with Digital Services to ensure hospital-wide accuracy and integrity of data.
  • Provide administrative support to Medical Staff leadership in preparing materials and communications directly related to the work of the department or committee.
  • Schedule meetings, agendas, and meeting arrangements; take minutes for selected Medical Staff committees and department meetings; complete all related correspondence; provide management with meeting minutes and related correspondence.
Requirements
  • Associate's Degree or equivalent knowledge of federal, state, and Joint Commission credentialing and accreditation standards; working knowledge of general medical terminology.
  • 3 years of relevant experience in a Medical Staff Services Department or related healthcare experience.
