Petco Veterinary Technician Job Description
At Petco, we're passionate about delivering exceptional pet care and customer service. As a Veterinary Technician, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the health and well-being of our furry friends.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians with routine and emergency appointments, surgeries, and euthanasias.
- Perform patient restraint, obtain and process laboratory samples, and handle medications.
- Schedule appointments, communicate with clients, and maintain accurate records.
- Prepare patients for surgical and dental procedures, and monitor their recovery.
- Provide in-hospital treatments for sick patients, including administering medications and intravenous therapies.
Requirements:
- College or college-equivalent education as a Credentialed Veterinary Technician.
- At least 1 year of experience as a Veterinary Technician or in a veterinary practice.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Compassion, sympathy, and a professional attitude in emotional and stressful situations.
- Telephone and computer skills.
- A team player willing to learn new techniques and treatments.
Work Environment:
The majority of job duties are conducted in the Vetco Total Care full-service hospital. Position requires bending, kneeling, lifting (up to 30 pounds), and standing for long periods of time.
