Key Responsibilities
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Oversee financial transactions linked to oil and gas revenues and expenditures, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to accounting standards and protocols.
- Reconcile accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other general ledger accounts, promptly addressing any discrepancies.
- Conduct monthly reconciliations for assigned accounts, ensuring accurate presentation of account balances.
- Calculate royalties, severance taxes, and other production-related taxes owed to government authorities, ensuring timely and precise payments.
- Execute production accounting tasks, including the analysis of production data, monitoring production volumes, and preparing production reports.
- Ensure accurate measurement and reporting of oil or gas volumes, collaborating closely with production personnel and third-party measurement services.
- Work in conjunction with other departments such as engineering, land management, and marketing to ensure financial data is accurately represented in the company’s systems.
- Assist in monthly analyses by comparing actual results against budgeted or forecasted figures, investigating accounting transactions to confirm accuracy and understanding of financial activities.
- Support the forecasting and analysis of project and departmental expenses for monthly presentations using forecasting databases and systems.
- Manage month-end and year-end closing activities, including journal entry preparation, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial statement generation.
- Guide, mentor, and inspire junior accountants or financial analysts, providing support and training to enhance their skills and overall team performance.
- Identify training needs and assist in ongoing coaching and development opportunities for team members to bolster their accounting and industry expertise.
- Assist senior management in resolving complex accounting challenges arising in upstream operations.
- Demonstrates ownership of projects and responsibilities, exhibiting a high degree of accountability and initiative.
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, capable of articulating ideas clearly and effectively across diverse settings and audiences.
- Meticulous attention to detail, consistently ensuring accuracy and precision in all tasks and deliverables.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance, or an equivalent qualification is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, closing, reporting, and hands-on experience with accounting systems.
- At least 3 years of experience in upstream oil and gas operations.
- Proficient in Microsoft 360 products (Outlook, Excel, Word) with advanced Excel skills required.
- Experience with Excalibur or other P2 systems is preferred.
