Overview

The Lead Corrosion Specialist will collaborate with a certified corrosion expert to support project teams in developing exceptional designs for innovative initiatives, modifications, and revitalizations across diverse projects. This role involves engaging with the project team throughout the design and construction phases, adjusting plans based on financial limitations, design considerations, and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

+ Execute intermediate to advanced corrosion engineering and cathodic protection design across various engineering assignments with minimal oversight.

+ Function as a team member on multiple projects ranging from small to large scale, with varying levels of technical complexity.

+ Aid in the creation of technical drawings, including site layouts, standard details, material lists, equipment timelines, and other drawing-related activities.

+ Contribute to the development of studies, plans, criteria, specifications, calculations, evaluations, design documents, performance assessments, integrated systems analysis, and cost projections related to the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of cathodic protection and AC mitigation systems.

+ Implement technical standards and procedures in alignment with federal regulations and client specifications relevant to the tasks performed.

+ Enforce the company's quality control protocols across all assigned projects.

+ Foster a collaborative environment while working with other teams and global practices within the organization.

+ Review and refine engineering documentation; consult with field personnel regarding modifications in analysis or system design adjustments as necessary. Evaluate charts, tables, calculations, and related data collected.

+ Conduct economic assessments of alternative cathodic protection and corrosion management methods. Assist in cost analysis and detailed proposal formulation.

+ Engage with clients and communicate in a professional manner.

+ Strive to comprehend client interests and motivations through regular interactions and communication with project leadership.

+ Integrate understanding of client interests into personal conduct and the execution of responsibilities.

+ Lead the formulation of CP designs, detailing anode specifications, quantities, placements; rectifier positioning, test station placements, and other design elements on prepared schematics.

+ Employ problem-solving techniques and engineering principles to all project tasks and challenges encountered, particularly in corrosion-related areas. Possess knowledge of engineering designs, principles, and practices.

+ Assist in conducting field inspections, measurements, or calculations for both public and private sector clients.

+ Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline from an ABET-accredited institution.

+ At least 7 years of professional experience in a related domain.

+ Professional Engineering (PE) and/or NACE certifications are highly desirable.

+ Active participation in industry and/or community initiatives.

+ Comprehensive knowledge of standard corrosion engineering methodologies, principles, and practices.

+ Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.

+ Capacity to work systematically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving context, demonstrating critical thinking capabilities.

+ Proficient in computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, MicroStation, BIM (Revit), Civil 3D, PLS, PLS-CADD, RISA-3D, MathCADD), and civil analysis software. Must be adept at managing complex spreadsheets, databases, and presentation tools, with a quick learning ability for new applications.

+ Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team-building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.

+ Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and empower others, demonstrating strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.

+ Proven leadership abilities with aspirations to mentor and train junior engineers.

+ Provide technical guidance and support to other teams and global practices within the organization.

+ Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business publications, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; draft reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals; effectively present information to various audiences (management, clients, customers, general public) and address inquiries.

+ Proficient in performing arithmetic calculations and applying basic statistical, algebraic, and geometric concepts.

+ Capable of solving practical problems and managing a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization, interpreting various instructions in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule formats.

+ Conduct tests necessary to assess the condition of soil, water, and underground or submerged structures, recognizing and responding to abnormal measurements or conditions.

Compensation

The anticipated compensation range for this role is provided in accordance with local and state regulations. This range is influenced by various factors, including individual education, qualifications, prior experience, and work location. The total annual compensation package will include a base salary and eligibility for a discretionary year-end incentive program.
