Position Overview:
The Shipyard Helper plays a crucial role in supporting various marine operations. This position involves a range of tasks including light tooling, mechanical cleaning, paint removal, and maintaining a tidy work environment. The role also includes assisting with insulation removal, deck dismantling, and performing general labor duties as assigned.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and clean work sites for upcoming installation projects.
- Assist in the loading and unloading of materials, tools, and machinery.
- Set up work areas, ensuring all necessary equipment is in place.
- Support installation and service teams as required.
- Remove fiberglass insulation as part of the project tasks.
Qualifications:
- Must be able to obtain clearance for work on Naval Bases.
- Physical ability to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Familiarity with small hand and power tools.
- Commitment to safety practices on construction sites.
- Capability to climb stairs and work on scaffolding or ladders up to 12 feet high.
