Job Title: Instructional Media Specialist

The University of Wyoming is seeking a highly skilled Instructional Media Specialist to join our team. As an Instructional Media Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting the development of high-quality educational video content for our faculty and staff.

Job Summary:

This is a unique opportunity to work with a talented team of educators and technologists to create engaging and effective learning experiences for our students. As an Instructional Media Specialist, you will be responsible for collaborating with faculty and staff to produce instructional video and media content, providing expertise and resources for instructional media production, and educating faculty and staff on the benefits of instructional media.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate with Instructional Designers and Associate Directors to ensure optimal outcomes for instructional media development.
  • Collaborate closely with faculty, subject matter experts, and instructional designers to develop effective video-based learning materials that align with course objectives and pedagogical best practices.
  • Lead pre-production, production, and post-production phases of video content creation, including storyboarding, script writing, asset identification, scheduling, faculty preparation, camera operation, audio capture/recording, and editing.
  • Develop all products to meet industry standards, including ADA 504 and 508 accessibility standards.
  • Deploy media into digital learning environments and web-based platforms using video content management systems.
  • Prepare scripts, print documentation, website copy, process documentation, reports, and other creative/technical documentation as needed.
  • Proofread, edit, and make suggestions for digital and print media.
  • Ensure defined project scope, goals, schedules, and deliverables are met for each project. Report on project status.
  • Align assigned resources with stated priorities and manage Online & Digital Learning team collaboration.
  • Track media-related budget processes and procedures.
  • Manage instructional media facilities, scheduling, upkeep, and operations.
  • Conduct training and workshops related to multimedia design and deployment.
Supplemental Functions:
  • Assist ECTL staff with ongoing initiatives.
  • Assist with special projects related to digital learning initiatives as needed.
  • Participate in professional development activities to stay current with educational technology and instructional design trends.
  • Participate in meetings and committees, perform research, provide opinions, concerns, and suggestions.

Remote Work Eligibility:

This position provides vital support to campus customers and will require the successful candidate to be available to work on campus some of the time. The position is flexible when not actively meeting with Faculty for recording.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in media production-related field, or equivalent experience

Experience: 2 years work-related experience or equivalent combination of education, internship, and experience

Required education, licensure, certification, registration, or other requirement: Valid driver's license

  • Knowledge of implementation and integration of new technologies into learning environments, including multimedia systems, cameras, sound systems, Internet, compressed video, software, digital media, and distance education technologies.
  • Computing hardware and software, and networking protocols, devices, and systems.
  • PC computing operating system(s) and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Instructional technology equipment usage, including studio, video, computer display, signal distribution, video recording/playback cameras, camcorders, monitors, whiteboards, and audience response systems.

  • Applicable University, city, state, and federal rules, regulations, and procedures.
