Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership:

  • Oversee and mentor facilities technicians on the correct usage of all systems and machinery, ensuring compliance with established procedures and policies.
  • Recruit, orient, train, assign tasks, schedule, coach, counsel, and manage personnel to meet operational goals.
  • Communicate job expectations, plan, monitor, and evaluate job contributions; recommend compensation adjustments.
  • Develop weekly maintenance schedules and allocate tasks efficiently.

Maintenance Operations:

  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify issues and necessary maintenance.
  • Ensure systems and machinery are operational by performing tests, executing repairs, procuring, and installing required replacement parts, and establishing a routine maintenance program.
  • Inspect and maintain facility systems (heating, ventilation, etc.).

Quality Assurance:

  • Adhere to all departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Follow all organizational policies and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook.

Safety Management:

  • Guarantee a healthy and safe work environment for all staff by enforcing company policies and standards.
  • Support the Company Safety Program and implement necessary improvements.
  • Monitor and report all safety concerns, incidents, and near misses.
  • Promote and maintain a clean, safe, and organized department.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the formulation of the maintenance budget and ensure adherence.
  • Monitor inventory levels of materials and equipment.
  • Report significant machinery issues and downtime to management.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • At least one year of experience in the repair, adjustment, and/or setup of production equipment or experience as a Machine Operator.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position: bending, repetitive motion, standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Capability to work independently or collaboratively within a team.
  • Desire to learn, develop new skills, and take responsibility for the quality of work produced.
  • Manual dexterity, mechanical aptitude, and ability to read and understand instructions.
  • Ability to assess mechanical priorities and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Positive attitude and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Work Environment and Conditions:

  • Work in proximity to moving machinery with potential hazards if safety protocols are not followed.
  • Exposure to loud machinery with medium to high noise levels (hearing protection recommended or required in certain areas).
  • Potential hazards include cuts, bruises, electrical shock, noise, and handling oil and solvents.
  • The manufacturing area may contain dust, dirt, and grease. Work areas can become moderately warm during high outside temperatures.
