Shift: As needed

Role Overview:

The registered dietitian employs the nutrition care process to evaluate, diagnose, provide nutrition interventions, and monitor the dietary status and progress of patients. This role adheres to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Standards of Practice and engages in exceptional customer service while fostering respectful relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

Assessment: Conducts nutrition-focused physical assessments, gathers measurements, reviews medical histories, collects data through interviews, utilizes validated assessment tools, evaluates anthropometric data, and calculates comparative standards.

Diagnosis: Analyzes assessment data to identify nutrition-related risks, issues consistent with malnutrition, knowledge gaps, and/or high-risk health behaviors.

Intervention: Provides nutrition recommendations, orders, education, counseling, and referrals to additional services as necessary.

Education and Counseling: Delivers education and counseling tailored to the health literacy and cultural sensitivity of patients requiring nutritional management, employing evidence-based theories and concepts.

Monitoring: Offers follow-up to assess progress, adjusting nutrition care plans to achieve dietary goals and promote optimal health outcomes.

Leadership: Facilitates supervised practice experiences for dietetic interns and new hires, ensuring learning objectives are met. Stays updated on emerging research and evidence-based guidelines, participating in research and performance improvement initiatives.

Communication: Ensures accurate and timely documentation in electronic health records, adhering to protocols and standard operating procedures.

Collaboration: Engages in patient care rounds, creating nutrition care plans in partnership with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, promoting evidence-based nutrition practices.

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in nutrition or a related field.

Preferred:

Graduate degree in nutrition or a related field.

Licensure and Certification:

Active registered dietitian status with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and current licensure in the practicing state.
