Role Overview:
The Clinical Dietitian plays a crucial role in patient care by utilizing the nutrition care process to screen, assess, diagnose, and implement nutrition interventions while monitoring patient progress. This position adheres to the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Standards of Practice and Professional Performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment: Conduct nutrition-focused physical assessments, gather data through interviews, and evaluate anthropometric status.
  • Diagnosis: Analyze assessment data to identify nutrition risks and problems, including malnutrition and knowledge deficits.
  • Intervention: Provide nutrition recommendations, education, and referrals to other services as necessary.
  • Education and Counseling: Deliver culturally sensitive counseling and education tailored to patients' health literacy levels.
  • Monitoring: Follow up with patients to assess progress and adjust nutrition care plans accordingly.
  • Leadership: Mentor dietetic interns and new staff, ensuring alignment with learning objectives and staying updated on research and guidelines.
  • Communication: Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic health records and respond promptly to internal communications.
  • Collaboration: Work alongside physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to create comprehensive nutrition care plans.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in nutrition or a related field is required.
  • Current registered dietitian status with the Commission on Dietetic Registration is mandatory.
  • Active licensure in the state of practice is required.
