The Spotter is a critical role within the Republic Services team, responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our waste management facilities. As a Spotter, you will play a key part in directing vehicle drivers to the correct areas of the landfill, transfer station, or recycling centers, while also enforcing safety protocols and inspecting incoming loads for unacceptable waste.
Key Responsibilities- Direct Vehicle Drivers: Safely and efficiently direct vehicle drivers to the proper areas of the facility, based on the site fill plan, to ensure efficient waste management operations.
- Enforce Safety Protocols: Enforce publicly-posted safety rules and unposted safety standards at all times, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees and visitors.
- Inspect Incoming Loads: Inspect incoming loads for unacceptable waste, removing unsegregated items, including tires, batteries, and other unacceptable materials prior to disposal at the site.
- Communicate with Equipment Operators: Communicate with equipment operators regarding incoming loads of special waste or other loads that require special attention.
- Perform General Labor Duties: Perform general labor duties on an as-needed basis, including site clean-up, yard work, and building maintenance.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent: A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this role.
- Previous Experience: One year of previous experience working around heavy machinery is preferred.
- Ability to Work Safely: The ability to adhere to work schedule and follow through on challenges as they arise, while promoting the company's safety standards.
- Team Player: A team player with a sense of honesty and trustworthiness, who maintains a feeling of pride in work and strives to achieve all goals.
