Job Summary

The University of Washington is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director for the Legal Pathways program. This is a unique opportunity to lead a program that aims to build and support law-related opportunities for students, faculty, and the community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Legal Pathways program, implementing and assessing outcomes, and overseeing community and campus outreach efforts.
  • Provide leadership for the program and the University of Washington with respect to program development, delivery, and management.
  • Design and lead workshops and activities to prepare students for success in law school and other law-related professions.
  • Collaborate with academic units, faculty, and campus partners on program delivery, assessment, and strengthening of pre-law learning on the Tacoma campus.
  • Serve as a spokesperson and liaison of the program, working closely with campus and community partners and conducting key stakeholder outreach.
  • Convene and support the Community Advisory Board.
  • Promote the advancement of the program through fundraising, student, and alumni relations.
  • Develop and implement marketing and communication strategies utilizing various media and methods.
Requirements
  • Doctoral degree in Juris Doctorate, political science, sociology, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in the legal field.
  • Experience in implementing and managing new programmatic initiatives.
  • Experience in community engagement, preferably focusing on legal issues.
  • A record of successful collaboration and effective public relations skills.
  • Demonstrated success in building relationships with a variety of stakeholders, and communicating effectively with diverse audiences to build enduring, inclusive relationships.
  • Project management skills including operations and budget oversight.
  • Experience teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience within a higher education environment.
