Patient Services Representative

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Services Representative to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health. As a Patient Services Representative, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our patient registration process.
Key Responsibilities- Greets and checks in patients arriving for their appointments, ensuring accurate and complete patient information.
- Collects patient responsibility as identified in the pre-registration process and verifies insurance benefits.
- Completes the registration process for walk-in patients, updating demographic and insurance information as needed.
- Communicates with patients regarding payment expectations and identifies those in need of financial assistance.
- Collaborates with the Financial Advocate to coordinate patient financial resources and responsibilities.
- Monitors patient flow to ensure efficient and courteous care.
- Schedules patient visits and assists with new caregiver onboarding.
- Works assigned EPIC work queues and maintains knowledge of insurance requirements and policies.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Typically requires 1 year of experience in customer service or clerical/office experience.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and understand issues, examine data, and draw logical conclusions.
- Knowledge of Medicare, HIPAA, and EMTALA rules and regulations.
- Mathematical aptitude, effective communication skills, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to read and interpret documents, speak effectively, and handle sensitive information.
This role requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, carry, squat, and bend frequently, as well as twist, rotate, and kneel occasionally. Must be able to push/pull up to 50 lbs. with assistance and have functional speech and hearing.
