About the Role

At Southern Flow, Inc., we are seeking an experienced Automation Controls Specialist to join our team in Alpharetta, GA. This is a unique opportunity to work with a growing systems integration firm that delivers high-quality control systems throughout the Southeast.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, computer science, or mechatronics engineering, with relevant experience considered in lieu of a degree. They should be able to understand and apply principles of both AC and DC electrical circuits, including 3-phase AC power and motors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform basic programming modifications of PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and HMI (Human Machine Interface) to meet project specifications.
  • Build and modify panels both in the shop and in the field.
  • On-site system start-up and commissioning of our control systems.
  • Interface with contractors and end-users.
  • Troubleshoot and support existing customers and installations.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or mechatronics engineering, or relevant experience.
  • Ability to learn and apply component specification, construction techniques, and requirements as defined by Underwriters Laboratories Inc. 508-A and 698 specifications.
  • Competence in the use of small hand tools and soldering equipment.
  • Strong understanding of computers, networking, and Microsoft Windows XP and 7 operating systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
