RECON Environmental, Inc. is a leading environmental consulting and habitat restoration firm with over 50 years of experience in California and Arizona. We are employee-owned and operate within a collaborative work environment.

We are seeking a highly talented Director to oversee our CEQA and Environmental Planning Group. This position will serve as a key leader of our Environmental Division in San Diego, California, with a focus on project financial performance, project deliverables, technical proposal preparation, client relations, and business development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage staff, including workload, job assignments, mentoring, continuing education, and performance reviews.
  • Lead and prepare proposals/qualifications submittals, as applicable, and manage or participate in interviews to help RECON win contracts and meet sales and profit goals.
  • Build relationships with current key clients. Identify, target, and develop preferred new clients with significant opportunities.
  • Direct large projects and on-call contracts as Principal-in-Charge, completing high-quality work products on time and within budget and in compliance with the terms and conditions of the contract, to RECON standards and to the satisfaction of our clients.
  • Ensure that RECON's high-quality standards are maintained on all work products managed by you or your staff.
  • Successfully represent RECON in communications and meetings with existing/prospective clients and public agencies in support of project, proposal, and business development efforts.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in environmental science, Planning, or related environmental technical discipline plus eight (8) years of experience, or BA/BS with twelve (12) years' relevant experience.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines and produce a high volume of accurate work.
  • Solid understanding of CEQA requirements and processes.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to timely completion of high-quality work.
  • Ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and multitask as well as be able to work in a team environment with a variety of project members.
  • Strong financial acumen and ability to develop and execute preventative and corrective actions in a collaborative manner with other Project Managers.
