Role Responsibilities and Qualifications

The Clinical Laboratory Specialist is responsible for performing both routine and advanced laboratory tests in various fields such as toxicology, chemistry, hematology, immunology, and microbiology, which are essential for patient diagnosis and treatment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct chemical, bacteriological, serological, and microscopic analyses across one or more laboratory departments.
  • Deliver precise results in hematology, serology, chemistry, blood banking, coagulation, urinalysis, microbiology, and other designated areas.
  • Ensure quality outcomes by executing standards and controls, calibrating equipment according to approved testing protocols, and performing routine maintenance while monitoring quality control measures.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in laboratory science or a related field is required OR grandfathered as a medical technologist by CLIA 88.
  • Certification as MT (ASCP), CLS (NCA), MLS (ASCP), or equivalent is required, or registry/certification eligibility.
  • Registry/certification must be achieved within one year of employment.
  • Preferred experience in a similar role.
