Job Title: Assistant Meat Manager

At Restaurant Depot, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Meat Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Meat Department, you will be responsible for ensuring that our products are received, stocked, and displayed in a clean and organized manner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure proper customer service and develop relationships with large customers.
  • Help supervise all activities in the Meat Department, including product placement, rotation, signage, and displays.
  • Responsible for overall department appearance, cleanliness, and adherence to government and corporate ordinances.
  • Supervise and work together with Meat Supervisors and Stockers to ensure the Meat Department operates in accordance with company standards.
  • Develop schedules, monitor performance, and recommend discipline as necessary.
  • Train employees in job responsibilities and safe operating procedures.
  • Assist with candidate interviews and recommend hires.
  • Discipline employees when necessary and recommend terminations.
  • Ensure employees perform proper inspections to meet HACCP regulations and conduct periodic HACCP audits.
  • Review inventory for product rotation on a daily basis to prevent shrinkage and damages.
  • Ensure shelf pricing is correct and reflects the most recent pricing and market conditions.
  • Supervise the receiving of all meat products and ensure proper paperwork is completed.
  • Maintain accurate computer inventory levels by performing physical inventories and making adjustments.
  • Maintain refrigerated equipment and ensure maintenance contracts and schedules are followed.
  • Supervise the ordering of meat products from vendors to ensure competitive pricing and minimal shrink due to spoilage.
  • Ensure employees can operate equipment such as the Toledo scale and Dennison label machine.
  • Coordinate the proper merchandising of aisles and creatively merchandise and set up impulse areas.
  • Perform additional duties, responsibilities, and projects as assigned.
  • Perform weekly self-audits of the Meat Department.
Requirements:
  • Must pass a drug screen.
  • Can lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Bachelor's Degree, or High School Diploma or GED with at least 4 years of experience in customer service, or any appropriate combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, mass, and volume.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
  • Commitment to company values and strong customer orientation.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Requires frequent exposure to cold/freezing temperatures.
  • Equipment in motion (forklifts, electric pallet jacks, scooters).
