Job Overview

As a Chemical Operations Specialist within the Army National Guard, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding the nation against significant threats. Your responsibilities will include supporting disaster relief initiatives and protecting against chemical and biological warfare.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert training and oversight on CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) equipment and operations.

Skills Acquired

• Proficient operation of CBRN decontamination, defense, detection, and monitoring tools.

• Mastery in the use of protective gear.

• Certification in Hazardous Material handling (awareness level).

• Experience in exposure scenarios to toxic agents while utilizing CBRN protective equipment.

Essential Skills

• Strong communication abilities.

• Interest in scientific disciplines such as algebra, chemistry, physics, geometry, and trigonometry.

• Organizational and planning skills.

• Capacity to maintain composure under high-pressure situations.

Through rigorous training, you will acquire the expertise and experience necessary for a successful career in fields such as chemistry, chemical engineering, and waste management.

Compensation and Training

Instead of incurring costs for training, you will receive a salary while you learn. In the Army National Guard, you will gain these essential skills while earning a steady income and qualifying for educational assistance.

Following 10 weeks of Basic Training, where you will learn fundamental soldiering skills, you will participate in 11 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT), which includes both practical and theoretical instruction on defensive strategies for NBC warfare and emergency preparedness.

    Requirements
    • Military enlistment in the Army National Guard

    • Must pass a physical examination and meet legal and moral standards
    • Must fulfill citizenship criteria
