Job Summary

The House Supervisor is a key member of the nursing team, responsible for maintaining nursing unit goals and objectives. This role ensures compliance with company policies, federal, state, and local regulations, and coordinates programs and services under the direction of the Director of Nursing (DON).

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance, supervision, and management oversight to all nursing staff on all shifts.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Supervise the nursing department in the absence of the DON/ADON as directed.
  • Monitor staff compliance with assigned break times and patient care assignments.
  • Effectively collaborate with medical staff and other departments to coordinate all aspects of patient care.
  • Coordinate admissions, discharges, and transfers; ensures appropriate documentation.
  • Conduct patient rounds and provide immediate feedback to assigned staff.
  • Initiates coaching/counseling and/or corrective action as necessary.
  • Review and investigate patient, family, and staff concerns; take action to resolve and prevent reoccurrence.
  • Participate in the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of quality nursing staff.
  • Reviews staffing at change of shift; assigns and replaces staff to meet patient care needs.
  • Ensure nursing unit operates with consideration to budget and cost controls; manage and reduce unnecessary waste and spending when possible.
Requirements
  • One year of nurse management/leadership experience preferred.
  • Active, unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse in the state of employment.
  • Ability to lead diverse team of individuals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong ability to make independent decisions and work without direct supervision.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government personnel, and the public.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of current standards of nursing practice.
  • Must be knowledgeable of computer systems and applications.
  • Excellent customer service focus
