About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Civil Engineer to join our Mining team in Denver, Colorado, St Louis, Florida, or Raleigh North Carolina. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing geotechnical services to the Mine Waste unit, including geotechnical modeling, analysis, and design, as well as geotechnical investigations and liaison with external commercial laboratories.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare proposals for projects, including cost estimates and timelines, for geotechnical services for civil engineering projects.
  • Provide geotechnical related services to the Mine Waste unit, including geotechnical modeling, analysis, and design, geotechnical investigations, and liaison with external commercial laboratories.
  • Conceptualize, pre-feasibility, and feasibility design studies for tailings and mine waste facilities.
  • Plan and carry out assignments requiring familiarity with a broad range of geotechnical engineering, with reciprocal knowledge of work on other technical fields.
  • Utilize combinations of standard procedures, modifications of standard procedures, and methods developed in other assignments when analyzing each unique project.
  • Coordinate with clients, suppliers, and third parties to accomplish project objectives.
  • Manage projects to achieve client objectives, including briefing and control of staff and contractors allocated to the project, scheduling work, cost control, and utilization management.
  • Direct field activities, including investigation, monitoring, and testing services on construction projects.
  • Attend project meetings and carry out site inspections when senior technical guidance and support are required.
  • Review and interpret monitoring information from geotechnical instrumentation programs.
  • Carry out analysis of data, including computer analysis.
  • Write and review technical reports.
  • Work with senior staff when dealing with difficult, complex, and unusual matters and decisions.
  • Perform independent studies, analyses, interpretations, and conclusions.
  • Work independently with little supervision, depending on the complexity of the assignment.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants, mining staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Continuing own technical skills development and propagation of those skills to others.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Geotechnical, Civil, or Geological Engineering with a post-graduate degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in Geotechnical engineering, preferably predominantly obtained in a consulting engineering environment.
  • 5 years experience with Tailings, Dam, and Mine waste.
  • PE required.
  • Management of engineering teams consisting of intermediate and junior professionals and technicians.
  • Development of comprehensive scopes of work to the client's requirements.
  • Use of high-level engineering principles.
  • Ensuring that standards and criteria have been met.
  • Maintaining budgetary control, including changes in the scope of work due to client requirements and physical/geotechnical conditions.
  • Accurately and appropriately reporting project assignments on schedule.
  • Management of multiple projects at one time.
  • Experience with complex geotechnical investigations and design work.
  • Proven mentoring of junior engineering staff.
What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $110,000 to $150,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
