Job Summary:
The EC Teacher Assistant Inclusion/Resource Specialist will provide support to students with special needs in a classroom setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of special education principles and be able to work effectively with teachers and other educational professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement instruction as directed by the special education teacher, providing reinforcement of lessons to students in a small group or one-on-one setting.
- Supervise students during learning activities, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
- Assist with recordkeeping, including tracking attendance and calculating grades.
- Prepare for lessons by gathering materials and setting up equipment, such as computers.
- Participate in in-service programs as assigned to stay up-to-date on best practices in special education.
- Understand and adhere to established policies and procedures, maintaining confidentiality and safeguarding student-related information.
- Report incidents or variances to the supervising teacher, providing recommendations for support.
- Custodial care as needed, ensuring the physical and emotional well-being of students.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma and/or 48 college credit hours and/or Associate's Degree, OR High School Diploma and passing score on the Work Keys test administered by Rockingham Community College.
- Ability to obtain a bus driver's license.
