Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Academic Support Specialist to join our team at Reidsville High School. As a key member of our instructional support staff, you will play a vital role in providing academic assistance to students, supporting teachers in the classroom, and contributing to the overall success of our school community.
Key Responsibilities
As an Academic Support Specialist, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Providing individualized instruction and academic support to students, as prescribed by teachers
- Monitoring student progress, checking and correcting assignments, and maintaining accurate records
- Assisting teachers with instructional preparation, including duplicating materials, preparing visual aids, and reorganizing classroom materials
- Supporting student behavior, including supervising students in the classroom and other locations, and promoting positive behavior
- Participating in the development of discipline policy and implementing approved methods for addressing misbehavior
- Reporting student progress and discipline issues to teachers and administrators
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- An associate's degree or successful completion of 48 semester hours, or a minimum score of 4 on all three portions of the WorkKeys exam
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and administrators
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive student information
