As a Building Performance Field Technician, you will be part of a team that leverages proprietary tax software to provide accurate and efficient tax studies with superior quality.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Building Performance Field Technician to assist our team with 45L projects on an as-needed basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in energy efficiency, HERS rating, and ENERGY STAR residential programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating residential properties for energy efficiency, conducting diagnostic tests, and providing detailed documentation and reports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate Residential Properties

Assess energy efficiency features such as insulation, windows, air sealing, mechanical systems, plumbing systems, lighting, and appliances in residential properties.

Conduct Diagnostic Tests

Run tests, including blower door tests, duct leakage tests, and ventilation tests in single-family and multifamily buildings at different stages of construction or renovation to evaluate building performance.

Provide Detailed Documentation

Document inspection findings, including potential energy efficiency upgrades, and ensure all documentation and reporting meet regulatory requirements and company standards.

Verify Compliance

Verify compliance with ENERGY STAR certification standards and other relevant energy efficiency requirements.

Manage Projects

Manage and complete the ENERGY STAR Rater Design and Build Checklist for each project to ensure all requirements are met before certification.

Stay Up-to-Date

Stay updated on energy codes, standards, and best practices in energy efficiency.

Requirements

  • HERS Rating

2-year minimum experience as a HERS Rater with current RESNET accreditation.

Energy Efficiency Experience

Experience in ENERGY STAR residential programs and familiarity with the 45L tax credit requirements.

Diagnostic Tools

Hands-on experience with diagnostic tools, such as blower doors and thermal imaging cameras.

Physical Requirements

  • Physical Ability

Ability to move up and down ladders and in attic spaces.

Lifting

Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

Outdoor Conditions

Outdoor conditions include non-conditioned buildings and standard office settings.

Preferred Location

Preferred location: Houston.

Amount of Travel Required

Over 50% travel required.
