Job Summary


This Senior Nursing Operations Manager role oversees hospital activities, emphasizing communication, patient throughput, patient experience, quality, safety, and operational efficiency. The successful candidate will interact with nursing and hospital teams daily, promoting a safe environment. They will be responsible for supervising patient care and performing all related job responsibilities in a safe manner.



Key Responsibilities



  • Communicate administrative issues and actions taken to the respective nurse leader, Administrator-On-Call when necessary, and/or the senior administrative leader. Conduct rounds on all units to assess efficiency, productivity, patient care, teammate, and physician satisfaction.
  • Guide the staff in understanding state and federal laws concerning healthcare services and practice, compliance with the Nursing Practice Act, and company policies and procedures.
  • Assist with coordination of communication at regular intervals throughout the shifts via huddles, rounds, or meetings to promote dialogue. Ensure effective communication among teams.
  • Supervise nursing personnel, identify problems, initiate corrective action, and communicate/provide documentation of actions/investigative findings to the appropriate department manager, Nurse Leader, and/or the Administrator-On-Call.
  • Provide advice and assistance to nurses in administering new or unusual treatments or medications, interpret policies, and procedures for teammates, patients/families, and visitors, and respond to emergencies.
  • Coordinate shift management of patient flow/throughput, including participation in patient placement meetings/huddles or departmental meetings to accommodate and plan for new admissions/transfers throughout the shift.
  • Monitor staffing for the current and upcoming shifts through continuous assessment of volume/acuity needs, utilizing resources such as the Float Pool and PRN personnel or reallocation of personnel when necessary.


Requirements


This role requires a graduate degree in Nursing from an accredited institution, current RN licensure, and two years of nursing experience. Previous management experience is preferred, along with BSN and certifications such as BLS and CPI. The candidate must be enrolled in a BSN program within one year of hire and complete the program within three years. Professional certification is required within one year of eligibility.



Salary and Benefits


The estimated annual salary for this position is $85,000-$110,000, depending on experience. Atrium Health offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, and paid time off.



Work Environment


This role requires standing, walking, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling. The candidate must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. Intact sense of sight, hearing, smell, and touch are necessary. The role also requires critical thinking and the ability to concentrate.
