The Internal Audit division at Citizens Financial Group, Inc. is seeking a Senior Auditor to join our Treasury, Accounting, and Finance audit team. Our Internal Audit team consists of experienced professionals dedicated to delivering an independent and objective assessment of the bank's control environment, risk management practices, and organizational culture to the Board, Audit Committee, Shareholders, and Executive Management.
In this role, the Senior Auditor will take the lead or actively participate in intricate audits related to Treasury, Accounting, and Corporate Finance, focusing on critical areas such as the Capital Adequacy Process, Liquidity Risk Management, Treasury Operations, Treasury Investment Portfolio, SEC Financial Statement Reporting, and Regulatory Reporting.

Your responsibilities will include delivering a defined, typically high-risk aspect of audit engagements through the operational execution of audit tasks under supervision, across various business lines in alignment with established methodologies, standards, and procedures. You will ensure compliance with bank policies, processes, and procedures, while verifying that internal controls and safeguards are adequate, effective, and efficient.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare for assigned audits by reviewing relevant background materials and prior audit work.
- Identify risks and controls in key business areas and design test plans to evaluate the effectiveness of those controls.
- Conduct detailed testing, applying bank, industry, and regulatory guidelines.
- Create clear, comprehensive, and well-organized workpapers in accordance with Internal Audit’s methodology.
- Communicate potential issues and relevant information to Internal Audit and business line management effectively.
- Verify the remediation of issues to ensure adequate risk mitigation.
- Serve as the lead auditor on segments of large audit engagements or as the sole auditor on smaller engagements, overseeing the work of Staff Auditors.
- Collaborate with the broader Internal Audit team to assess treasury, accounting, and finance-related risks within the bank.
- Execute routine team responsibilities, such as continuous monitoring activities, team scheduling, or representing the Internal Audit team in meetings with business line management.
- 3-5 years of experience in an internal audit function, public accounting firm, or treasury role, preferably within the banking or financial services sector.
- Familiarity with capital adequacy and related regulatory requirements, SEC Reporting, and treasury and balance sheet strategies is preferred.
- Experience with Treasury-related topics such as Capital, Liquidity, and Interest Rate Risk is required.
- Experience with tools such as Workiva (Wdesk), Oracle General Ledger, Hyperion Financial Management (HFM), and Essbase is advantageous.
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders across the organization.
- Capability to mentor and develop junior team members.
- A Bachelor’s Degree is required.
- CPA, CFA, or CIA certification is preferred.
- Hours per Week: 40
- Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
