Job Summary

This is a part-time position as a 4-H STEM Program Assistant at Penn State University. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and conducting the 4-H STEM program for county youth.

Responsibilities
  • Program Planning and Implementation: Plan, implement, and evaluate age-appropriate 4-H STEM programs and activities with youth at identified locations within Snyder, Union, and Northumberland counties.
  • Supervision and Safety: Monitor children and be responsible for the whereabouts, supervision, and safety of all children registered for the program.
  • Communication: Provide communication to youth and parents about upcoming programs and opportunities.
  • Marketing and Promotion: Write news releases, social media posts, and assist with general marketing to increase public awareness and participation.
  • Administrative Tasks: Assist with survey data entry as needed, work cooperatively with other staff in planning and conducting programs, activities, and other special events, and assist the Educator in reaching new audiences in accordance with Penn State University Affirmative Action Policy.
  • Record-Keeping: Establish and maintain files.
Requirements
  • Communication Skills: Possess good communication skills needed for individual communication with youth, parents, and other educators.
  • Organizational and Record-Keeping Skills: Possess organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Computer Skills: Possess computer skills for creating documents and marketing pieces.
  • Driving Requirements: This job requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid US driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
  • Background Clearances: Successful applicants will not be able to start work until they have received background clearances as per Penn State hiring policies.
