Teaching Professor of Agricultural and Biological Engineering

The Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering at Penn State University invites applications for a teaching faculty member to teach several courses and assume the role of Biological Engineering Undergraduate Program Coordinator.
Responsibilities:- Teach several Biological Engineering undergraduate courses, including BE 1-Seminar, BE 301-Mathematical Modeling of Biological and Physical Systems, BE 465-Food and Biological Process Engineering, and co-teach BE 460W-Biological Engineering Design I and BE 466W Biological Engineering Design II.
- Assume the role of Biological Engineering Undergraduate Program Coordinator, including meeting with prospective students, assigning students to faculty advisers, working with colleagues in the Engineering Advising Center, and coordinating the ABE Department's role in the Engineering New Student Orientation (NSO).
- Participate in ABET accreditation activities related to the BE major and serve in the College of Engineering ABET Coordination Group.
- Prepare the BE request for learning assistant (LA) funding support to submit to the Leonhard Center and coordinate/manage recruiting the undergraduate students.
- Ph.D. in Agricultural/Biological Engineering or related discipline required.
- Successful candidate must have an engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program.
- Excellent writing and oral communication skills required.
- Successful candidate must have an effective and successful teaching background and an enthusiasm for interacting with students, both in the classroom and in advising and consultation meetings.
The mission of the ABE department is to promote global sustainability through the engineering science, business, and technical management of biological and agricultural systems. The department supports undergraduate and graduate resident education programs in Biological Engineering, Agricultural and Biological Engineering, and BioRenewable Systems.
