Job Title: Construction Education Instructor
Position Summary:
The McWhorter School of Building Science at Auburn University invites applications for a non-tenure track position as a Construction Education Instructor. This role is designed for a full-time commitment with a two-year term, subject to renewal based on mutual agreement, funding availability, and performance evaluations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering instruction within the undergraduate construction curriculum and engaging in service activities that enhance student support within the School.
Key responsibilities include:
- Teaching courses aligned with the University’s mission.
- Collaborating with faculty and students across various disciplines.
- Building relationships with construction industry professionals and organizations.
Compensation will be determined based on a nine-month academic year appointment, with opportunities for summer teaching. Additional avenues for professional engagement include participation in industry associations, coaching competition teams, attending conferences, and involvement in study abroad programs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- A Master’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field, accompanied by a minimum of five years of experience in the U.S. construction sector, or
- A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field, along with at least ten years of experience in the U.S. construction sector.
Applicants should demonstrate expertise in teaching subjects such as Construction Materials and Methods, Safety, Quality Control, Plan Reading, Construction Technology, Mechanical & Electrical Systems, Estimating, Project Management, Field Supervision, and Structural Systems.

- Progressively responsible experience in the construction industry.
- Strong communication skills.
- Significant experience within the U.S. construction landscape.
- Professional registration or contractor's license, along with relevant certifications and credentials.
- Ability to integrate information technology into educational practices.
- Experience in higher education teaching.
