Job Title: Payroll Specialist

The University of New Haven is seeking a highly skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of our weekly payroll process.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process payroll transactions and ensure compliance with University policies and procedures
  • Manage the payroll software and perform data entry as required
  • Calculate and process retroactive payments, print checks, and process direct deposit files
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and employee files
  • Respond to employee inquiries and requests regarding payroll matters
  • Work closely with Finance and Human Resources on all payroll-related issues
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in business management, accounting, or related field
  • Minimum of two years of experience in payroll
  • Experience working in a higher education environment is preferred
  • Knowledge of payroll best practices and federal and state tax regulations is a plus
