Key Responsibilities
  • Faculty and Staff Professional Development:
    • Provide resources and support to faculty with classroom management and educational planning.
    • Coordinate and deliver professional development in first-year experience pedagogy to first-year seminar faculty, including instructional induction, modeling, observation and feedback, and continued coaching.
    • Support first-year seminar faculty in adopting and developing proven and innovative teaching strategies, designing and redesigning courses, and integrating instructional technology, particularly in implementing high-impact practices.
  • Facilitates Community of Practice (CoP):
    • Assist in enhancing the transition and success of first-year students by addressing challenges, including but not limited to, student retention, engagement, and academic success.
    • Collaborate with key stakeholders to share insights, strategies, and resources to foster a supportive, learning environment.
    • Coordinate the practical application when implementing transition pedagogies, organizing orientation programs, and developing support systems for first-year students.
  • Liaison Between Departments and Stakeholders Involved in Supporting First-Year Students:
    • Collaborate effectively with the Title III team to ensure the planning of program activities and coordinate and align the first-year experience improvement efforts.
    • Liaise with other departments to influence the development of integrated systems to support first-year experience improvements.
    • Collaborate with FLCC Instructional Design staff to improve the design of first-year programming.
    • Coordinate with faculty stakeholders and appropriate Advisory Boards.
    • Facilitates college community conversations related to identifying trends and opportunities to improve the first-year academic experience in higher education.
    • Collaborates with faculty through committee and departmental gatherings and encourages their participation in external professional development opportunities.
  • Compliance, Assessment and Accessibility:
    • Ensure all course materials, assessments, and activities comply with institutional accessibility standards and relevant legal requirements, such as the ADA and Section 508.
    • Supports the integration of assistive technology and other resources for students with disabilities and promotes equitable access to education.
    • Develops, implements, and assesses the effectiveness of FYE programs.
    • Designs and administers surveys to gather feedback from students, faculty, and staff.
    • Aligns programmatic data with institutional goals.
    • Analyzes data to inform programmatic changes.
  • Other Related Duties:
    • Performs other duties as assigned by the College.
