Role Summary:

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and orderly environment in accordance with established standards. This role requires adherence to confidentiality, security, and safety protocols associated with the work environment.

Successful candidates will demonstrate professionalism, tact, and the ability to build effective working relationships with the public, facility occupants, colleagues, and vendors.


Key Responsibilities:


1. Collect and dispose of waste materials.
2. Sanitize restrooms and replenish supplies.
3. Sweep, scrub, mop, or vacuum floors.
4. Address spills and hazards using appropriate equipment.
5. Secure facilities after hours by locking doors and closing windows.
6. Clean surfaces, including counters and casework.
7. Dust and maintain common areas.
8. Wash windows and glass as needed.
9. Manage inventory and stock supplies.
10. Move and arrange furniture as required.
11. Perform light maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs.
12. Report maintenance needs to the appropriate personnel.
13. Follow safety protocols when using cleaning chemicals and equipment.


Qualifications:


Education:

  • Less than high school education with at least one year of experience in custodial methods and equipment.
Valid driver's license is mandatory.
Experience with floor maintenance equipment is preferred.
Ability to comprehend and apply safety procedures is essential.
Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment background check and physical examination.
Physical Requirements:


This position requires the ability to walk and stand for extended periods, frequently bend, kneel, and lift moderate to heavy weights. Candidates must possess the dexterity to operate specialized tools and equipment and communicate effectively.


Work Environment:


Work is performed under general supervision with opportunities for independent judgment. The environment is informal and team-oriented, with both routine and variable tasks. Candidates may be exposed to various weather conditions and physical risks, necessitating adherence to safety precautions.
